Tech Talks: Robbie Frazier, Vice President of Sales
We recently sat down with TKA’s newest team member, Robbie Frazier, Vice President of Sales, for a Q&A where we learned more about his role with TKA, why he loves working in healthcare and what keeps him motivated day in and day out.
Q: What is your role at TKA? Describe what you do day-to-day.
A: My new role with TKA is Vice President of Sales. That means that I spend my days connecting clients with our healthcare technology management (HTM) solution. I connect with all kinds of healthcare providers from rural standalone hospitals to healthcare systems and put together a solution that fits their needs. I get to dig in and really work with them on staffing, equipment utilization and even capital planning. My goal is to make sure they are getting their full ROI from their equipment every single day.
A typical day for me is working on prospecting, proposals, reaching out to current clients to ensure they’re receiving all the TKA benefits as a service provider and helping them enhance productivity as well as their revenue chain.
Q: How long have you been with TKA and why did you choose this profession?
A: I just started with TKA in October, but I’ve been in this industry for more than 32 years. I went to school for electrical engineering and when I was 21. I began working in healthcare with a service organization as an engineer with lab equipment, and then I learned general biomed equipment. That company then sent me to school to learn how to service diagnostic imaging equipment, which became my specialty for many years.
I love working in healthcare because it feels like the best of both worlds – I am able to apply my engineering background to a field that saves people’s lives.
Q: What are 3 words to describe your team?
A: Professional. Honest. Hardworking.
Q: What is the best part of your job?
A: Every day is a little bit different and I get to meet so many interesting people.
My mother was a nurse practitioner, so I have deep roots in the healthcare industry. I love that I can utilize my technical knowledge to help clients develop solutions that allow them to be more efficient and productive, as well as help them wisely spend their money on capital and services.
Q: What has been the proudest moment in your career?
A: I am proud to be in the place in my career where I can work with hospitals on limited budgets to help them stretch their dollars. I am able to do this by co-creating the right TKA program solution to their fit revenue plans ensuring that they are getting the best service at the best economic price.
In my experience working with hospitals from Virginia to Hawaii, most hospitals are trying to save dollars in some capacity. Our solution is able to empower providers to treat, diagnose and save lives when dollars are limited. Our clients look for people who can solve sticky problems and that’s us! I have worked on every aspect of biomed from being on the ground with the tool bag in hand to managing programs operationally. This allows me to understand the challenges our clients face and find better solutions for their needs.
Q: What motivates you to wake up and go to work?
A: Forming connections and helping clients build outcome-driven programs that fit their needs.
Q: What is something that most people don’t know about you?
A: I went to the Navy Bootcamp at age 15 and earned my pilots’ wings with them by flying a hot air balloon.
Q: How do you define success?
A: In general, success to me is keeping a roof over my family’s heads and keeping them fed – which can be challenging with a growing family! When it comes to my work, I consider success aligning our client’s mission with our programs to find win-win business solutions that benefit both parties, and ultimately the patients, in the long run.
